The Power of 10%

Being able to find 10% is key to answering percentage questions. To find 10% of a number, all you need to do is divide it by 10. For example, 10% of 25 is 2.50. Once you have found 10%, it is easy to find other amounts:

  • To work out 20% of 25, times 2.50 by 2

  • To work out 30% of 25, times 2.50 by 3

  • To work out 40% of 25, times 2.50 by 4

  • To work out 60% of 25, times 2.50 by 6

Likewise, finding a smaller amount is easy too:

  • To work out 5% of 25, divide 2.50 by 2

  • To work out 1% of 25, divide 2.50 by 10
