ARC | A portion of a curve. |
AREA | The amount of space taken up by a 2D shape or surface. We measure area in square units: cm² or m². |
ARRAY | An ordered collection of counters, numbers etc. in rows and columns. |
ASCENDING ORDER | Numbers ordered from smallest to largest. |
AVERAGE | The ordinary or typical value. |
AXES | The horizontal and vertical lines used to frame a graph or chart. |
BAR CHART | A format for representing statistical information. |
BRACKETS () | Symbols used to group numbers in arithmetic, or letters and numbers in algebra. |
CAPACITY | The volume of a material held in a container. |
CENTI- | Prefix meaning one-hundredth (of) |
CIRCLE | A 2D curved shape, every point of which is the same distance from a fixed point in the centre. |
CIRCUMFERENCE | The measurement around the outside edge of a circle. |
CLOCKWISE AND ANTI-CLOCKWISE | Clockwise - moving in the same direction as the hands Anti-clockwise - moving in the opposite direction. |
COLUMN | The vertical arrangement of numbers, data, etc. |
CONE | A three-dimensional shape with a circular base and a point (apex). |
CONVERT | To change from one quantity or measurement to another. |
CUBE | A three-dimensional shape with six square faces. |
CUBOID | A three-dimensional shape with six rectangular faces |

DECAGON | A 10-sided shape. |
DECIMAL | A number expressed in a scale of 10s. |
DEGREES | The unit of measurement used for angles. |
DENOMINATOR | The bottom number of a fraction. |
DESCENDING ORDER | Numbers ordered from largest to smallest. |
DIAGONAL | Two corners of a shape that are not next to each other. |
DIAGRAM | A picture or representation. |
DIAMETER | The straight line going through the centre of a circle. |
DIGIT | A number e.g. 3, 5, 9, etc. |
DISSECTION | To cut/separate into parts. |
DIGITAL CLOCK | A clock that displays time as hours and minutes. E.g. 3:30 pm would be displayed as 15;30. |
